Taupo is famous for its trout fishing. Many visitors each year come to catch trout in the pristine waters either from a boat in the lake or by fly fishing in the rivers which feed the lake. Fishing guides and trips are easily arranged and happen all year round. Taupo is also now a favourite venue for many other activities including the New Zealand Ironman held in March each year and also the famous and very popular Round the Lake Cycle Challenge. Starting in 2007 Taupo will be the home for the A1GP race. 2 Excellent golf courses are to be found in the area as well as a fairly good 9 hole course. Skydiving and Bungee jumping are also very popular in Taupo for the more adventurous. Hot pools and swimming are also very popular. | Attractions Around Taupo
